I recently made an A4 character sheet for the OBSCURE roleplaying game by Tommy Sunzenauer. If you feel like using it – download it here for free.
What is OBSCURE?
OBSCURE is a tabletop RPG by Tommy Sunzenauer that takes inspiration from found-footage horror. This game emphasizes a rules-light and atmosphere-heavy approach, focusing on survival in single-location scenarios. Players take on the roles of average people rather than heroes, with a high emphasis on mystery-solving, fear management, and survival tactics.
The game utilizes a d6 dice pool system where Energy Points double as Health Points, making each action carry significant risk. OBSCURE features an experimental layout to evoke a 90s and found-footage aesthetic, using elements like old photocopier and typewriter sections to enhance the horror experience.
The RPG includes a rulebook, a quick reference guide, character generation tools, pre-made characters, four pre-made scenarios, equipment lists, tips for the Game Master (GM), and unique artwork. It was successfully funded on Kickstarter, surpassing its goal by a significant margin. OBSCURE has received recognition, winning a Judge’s Spotlight award at the ENNIE Awards in 2024.
